PROJECT: MOVING SITE/SIGHT
MOVING SITE/SIGHT explores the institutional histories, artistic identities and materiality of the gallery as site. MOVING SITE/SIGHT asks the audience to notice what they might have overlooked, the shifts in light, the cracks in the walls and the background noises you ignore. The work forces you to see that art has its environment, which crucially conditions our experience of it.
MOVING SITE/SIGHT is reflexive in nature in that it questions the comprehension of space as dualistically experienced and represented. The mechanical rig explores the architectural space as an extension of the body as the gallery space is transformed into ‘activated’ live space. Forced into a state of consciousness that demands continual analysis and reflection, the viewer becomes simultaneously lost and found in the work.
